Ok, so, it's the start of the new year. And with the start of the new year comes a slew of anime conventions through the rest of the year. One in particular is Fanime-con in San Jose from May 25-28, the weekend of the week after finals week.
Now, as most of you know, this has been a pretty big con over the years and it was my first con I ever went to. So, the reason I am posting here (God knows how long it's been since I posted here) is to see who is interested. I'll try and see who else was a part of club would be interested as well. Apparently, there is a $50 offer for preregistration going on until the end of January, so if a group of us is to get together for this, it would probably be in our best interest to see who is interested in going.
There are a few things we will need to know before thinking of going:
1) If we try to book a room at the Marriott like in the past, it will be a better idea to try and book two rooms and to get as many people in on this to save money on room expenses. Also, carpooling is another way of saving money on gas and other transportation costs. More than likely, some of us might even bring a sleeping bag or even a small inflatable bed.
2) It will be a better idea to bring some snacks along because getting food during the convention can be pretty costly (at times) and rather difficult due to many other convention goers. This also applies to bringing booze, too.
3) If most of us are interested in buying an assortment of Japanese food goodies, there is a Japanese food market away from the convention center that carries all kinds of things and we can get there by bus.
4) If people are traveling in a group, carpooling people will need to know that some of us will want to buy other anime/vidya items on the last day to get some better offers on goods.
Now that I have said my piece, I will go ahead and put myself as "Interested in going," since right now I am the only one to say this. Note I haven't said "Able to go" since it would be waaaay to much to go on my own.
Anything else I should add to as well?
