You know, I've been meaning to ask a lot of people's opinions about this... Unfortunately the people I'm around aren't really into anime. So I can finally ask it here.
What do you guys think of the live action movies of anime? I loved Speed Racer... it was RIDICULOUSLY awesome. I loved how so very normal it seemed without being... normal? I don't know how to explain it. It just rocked my damn socks off, especially since I remember Speed Racer back when I was only a few feet high.
I heard that there was a Dragon Ball movie out there. I never really got around to watching it... I heard it was low-budget and it was hiLURious, but... I don't know, I think that making Dragon Ball live action would be like watching the Japanese live action version of Sailor Moon...
... which did any of you see? That was so horrifying. I've seen cosplayers do a better job with the costumes and hairdos than that show did! I watched an episode or two and just gawked at it all... at least they didn't have really promiscuous transformation scenes. I'm glad they have yet to make a Pokemon live action...
And is it true there was a Death Note movie out there?
What would you guys like to see as a live action/movie?

I've watched a couple of the live-actions, and I have to say they vary a lot. You're right, Sailor Moon was terrible! So was the Rose of Versailles movie... never watch it if you can avoid it!
On the other hand, there are 3 Death Note movies and IMO they are awesome. They do NOT follow the same story line as the anime and manga, but I think that's good since it'd be hard to live up to those. The L actor is amazing... perfectly spot on. The Nana movies are another set that's as good as the anime.
The Dragon Ball movie is just funny. Most DB fans probably won't like it, but for the average viewer and non-DB anime fans, its a fun ride with some good action.
I'm really curious about the new Blood movie. It looks like they had a pretty big budget and I'm curious to see how it turned out.

I agree with tlynnec. It does varies with different animes that they're trying to make live action. I actually didn't like the live action of Saikano although the anime was okay.
